On Your Mark
Artist
Lucy Blake-Elahi with Abilities First / Harry A. Mier Center Students
About the Project
On Your Mark is a ceramic tile mural by Abilities First / Harry A. Mier Center students with the supervision of an experienced public artist. Lucy Blake-Elahi worked with a group of developmentally disabled children and adults from six to 24 years in age. Silhouettes of active youth leap across the artist’s background, inspired by the drawings and paintings of group members. Four tile portraits show some of the workers.
On Your Mark is one of six murals commissioned through Inglewood Cultural Arts. The non-profit artists’ group hired professional artists to facilitate permanent community art with youth on City facilities.
