Circle of Sounds
Artist
Michael Massenburg
About the Project
Michael Massenburg’s Circle of Sounds show conga drums, a saxophone, piano keys, a violin, and other musical instruments played in the Forum’s diverse amplified and acoustic concerts. The fifty-four circular medallions embedded in the iconic Forum parking lot connect music and community as a journey. Responding to the community use of the parking lot as a pedestrian exercise trail, Massenburg included four guitar-pick medallions on the quarter mile as incentives for all walking the mile-long perimeter. Circle of Sounds was commissioned as part of the Forum’s 2014 – 2015 renovation in compliance with the City Private Percent for Art ordinance.
