The Duck Truck Residency Program
Artist
Heidi Duckler Dance Theatre
About the Project
The Duck Truck Residency Program was a dance education initiative of Heidi Duckler Dance Theatre. Professional dancers taught creative movement using a converted air stream trailer, the Duck Truck, parked near the Warren Lane Elementary School playground.
In February DTRP teachers led thirteen students from the Learning Enrichment After School Program in exercises designed to activate the students’ physical, intellectual, emotional, and social facets. This led to personal growth and confidence in the young participants. On request, a condensed, two-day residency program occurred in July 2014 with younger students. One student wrote, ‘It looks like I discovered a hidden talent.’
