Inglewood: A History
Artist
Roberto Delgado
About the Project
Inglewood: A History is a ceiling-mounted artwork comprised of four painted panels with imagery on both sides. Irregularly shaped, the panels interlock to form a visual molecule of Inglewood’s activities and peoples.
The artist’s original photographs, and reworked historic images, reflect Inglewood’s past, present, and future. Skateboarding and bicycling communities; a horseracing track that closed in 2014; and a gospel choir performing in the Inglewood Forum in 2009 unite in Inglewood: A History. The artist digitally worked these silhouettes, overlaying line drawings with brushed color into four shapes with eight distinct compositions. Inglewood: A History asks us to look up.
About the Artist
Roberto (Tito) Delgado is a Los Angeles artist, who has worked in Mexico and Nicaragua. He writes ‘My work evolves from the reality of the photo. Both the easel work and public art murals have been based on the people and circumstances that I encounter, with both being an appreciation of the human figure.’
