Pontus Willfors designed and sculpted Roots for a prominent site in the Inglewood Senior Center.  Inspired by the rarely seen but most vital root system, Pontus reveals the roots system as a structural anchor and support.  He wrote: ‘Roots is inspired by a vital part of the tree: the root system. My artwork literally presents root systems, as well as human metaphor. The project honors seniors as the beginning of the family tree that branches out to younger generations.’

Pontus Willfors was born in Sweden and graduated from California Institute of the Arts (Cal Arts).  His exhibitions and public art commissions have been seen throughout North America and Europe. His studio has been in Inglewood for over a decade.
