Artist

Lyn Durham

About the Project

Lyn Durham’s four stained glass artworks are contemporary designs referencing well-known 19th century European paintings. Her style is described as Renaissance or Pre-Raphaelite realism combined with minimally painted glass. The public art works are displayed below ground in architecturally integrated apertures in the mausoleum walls.

Inglewood Park Cemetery complied with the City’s percent for art requirement by commissioning a contemporary artist to create a site-specific work for their new mausoleum. The original 1915 Mausoleum was the first community mausoleum constructed in the State of California, and is still in use. The Cemetery continues its extensive subterranean construction program.

About the Artist

Lyn Durham works in watercolor, sculpture and illustration and has been designing stained glass since 1990. In 2003 she joined Conrad Pinkel Studio, Florida’s leading stained glass atelier. Born in Compton, CA, Ms. Durham earned her MFA from University of California Berkeley.
